About Greenvine Baptist Church
1861 is a very important date in the history of the United States of America. That is the year that the Civil War came to be. Turmoil, death, wounded for life men, families torn apart, brothers against brothers. My own heritage put my father’s family against my mother’s family. A terrible, horrific time in our history.
However, in October of that year, a young German man, 17 years old, moved to the German community of Greenvine, Texas. He planted Greenvine Baptist Church. The church has been in existence for 165 years. The Lord has used the people of the church here as ambassadors to the area and those who “Trust the Lord.”
Pastor Jack's Welcome
Karen and I moved here in 2011. The congregation welcomed us with open arms and loving hearts. We are thankful that the Lord has led us here to minister. We are a small, country church. The Sanctuary was finished in 1979. We have undertaken the task of getting it back to close to the original look.
Our music is a combination of contemporary songs and classic hymns. Our teaching is a verse-by-verse instruction and study of a book of the Bible.
We are a part of the North American Baptist Conference which is an outcrop of the old German Baptist Churches in Canada and the U S. Their website is www.nabconference.org. We support several Christian organizations here in Washington County, including: Burton Bridge Ministry, Brenham Pregnancy Center, and Adult and Teen Challenge. We also support several foreign ministries including Chain of Love Orphanage in Brazil.
We are so pleased with the friendly folks here and their desire to know Christ more as well as the study of God’s Word, the Bible. Our time here has been so encouraging, exciting, learning and growth. The fellowship and food at meals is wonderful. We would love to have you meet with us. Maybe that’s why we say, “When you’re here, you're home.”
